This deciduous terrestrial grows in moister areas, often semi-swampy
areas.
The hairy leaf grows to 15mm by 8mm but develops after flowering, so
flowering plants have none or immature leaves. The flower stem is to
12cm with up to 3 flowers, each about 12mm across.
This orchid is very similar to Eriochilus cucullatus, but can be
distinguished by cucullatus having much larger flowers (20mm across
on a 25cm stem) and leaf without hairs or the prominent veins. |
