This terrestrial orchid grows in dry rocky open forest around Brisbane.
The rosette has died by the time this orchid flowers, but some
shrivelled leaves may be evident at the base of the flower stem.
The flower stem is to 35cm with up to 5 flowers 25mm long. The flowers
are translucent white striped with green, brown to red. The flower
tips have distinctive extended filaments 10mm long. The labellum has
numerous setae (hairs) around its edge.
This beautiful species can be identified by its horizontal filament on
lateral sepals and labellum with numerous setae. |
