This orchid grows in open forest, often around rocks.
The rosette generally has 5 to 12 leaves to 30mm by 12mm. The stem
grows to 30cm with three to fifteen flowers.
The flowers are 15mm long by about 15mm high, predominantly reddish
brown.
The only other similar orchid is Pterostylis pusilla which has
much smaller flowers and far fewer and smaller setae (stiff hair) on the
labellum.
